The Repos LU Model reimagines doorstep diesel delivery by seamlessly integrating the fuel tank and delivery unit into a unified, high-tech, and highly branded vehicle aesthetic. The project culminated in the manufacturing of a 1:1 scale working prototype, 'Mobile BLUE,' which was successfully showcased at Auto Expo 2023.

This system design project established a comprehensive DEF distribution ecosystem featuring an IoT-integrated bulk storage dispenser and a highly portable quality testing scanner. By addressing critical market gaps in fluid security and quality assurance, this dual-product solution transforms a previously manual, error-prone process into a highly accurate, tech-driven, and brand-cohesive operation.

Research

Studied the existing vehicle thoroughly. Understood the user journey of the vehicle, listed stakeholders, and observed user behavior around it. Looked into how existing diesel delivery trucks were set up to find ways to better combine the delivery unit and the fuel tank.

concept

Conceptualized the "LU Model" to serve as a high-tech, mobile fuel station that embodies a forward-thinking, innovative brand language. The core design attributes focused on creating a vehicle that is dynamic, robust, and technologically advanced, merging the Delivery Unit (DU) and Fuel Tank into a singular, premium aesthetic.

Research

Conducted extensive primary and secondary research across over 30 stakeholders to analyze the DEF (Diesel Exhaust Fluid) distribution ecosystem, uncovering critical issues with manual handling, storage contamination, and unreliable testing methods. Benchmarked against existing competitor storage like IBC tanks and basic manual refractometers, identifying a severe lack of data transparency, secure dispensing, and accurate, on-the-go quality assurance in the market.

The design process specifically focused on masking the traditional, fragmented industrial look of the chassis and storage tanks, wrapping them in a unified, aerodynamic shell that instantly communicates the vehicle's upgraded capabilities and cohesive brand identity.

Formulated a dual-product ecosystem consisting of an IoT-enabled bulk storage/dispensing unit and a portable DEF quality testing scanner to systematically resolve adulteration and management inefficiencies. Established a cohesive brand language centered around key attributes—"Techy, Safe, and Assuring"—aiming to elevate the user experience far above the raw, utilitarian feel of standard competitor offerings.

Simultaneously, sketched and refined a sleek, ergonomic handheld testing device equipped with an intuitive LED color-coded indicator (Green/Orange/Red) for instant, foolproof purity validation.

Transitioned the finalized designs directly into the manufacturing floor, overseeing the complex metal fabrication and structural integration required for a commercial-grade delivery vehicle. This hands-on development phase culminated in the successful launch of The Repos LU Model at Auto Expo 2023.
